What is more critical to you with regards to outside decking? Do you need longevity or do you think you’re focused on looks? Are you concerned with the long-term price of sustaining such a deck, or do you think you’re more focused on functionality? There are plenty of different alternatives with regards to decking these days and it’s not a selection to be taken lightly, as each and every alternative has its implications moving forward. If you’re something of a handyman or woman you might not be too concerned with the thought of normal upkeep, painting or treatment methods and may be quite happy selecting hardwood decking due to its aesthetic attraction. Several purists consider this should be the only kind of decking, as it “blends in” better with the natural environment all around it.

Whilst PVC or plastic decking is a considerable trend in the marketplace these days you should not feel that it appears out of place in a countryside environment either. Both plastic as well as composite decking have their own concerns. Neither of them requires painting, are low-maintenance by classification plus they have great endurance characteristics in harsh climates. Even so composite materials have an element of wood fibre and materials within and they are therefore somewhat susceptible to fading or mould infiltration.

If the natural world is very important to you and you’re eco-friendly, maybe you should consider composite decking. They are often made of recycled wood and plastic materials and will as a result be a less expensive option for you as well in some scenarios.

Any time you consider decking you are basically constructing an extension to your house. It will be a fundamental element of the house and become a substantial selling point for you when it comes to putting the house for sale. Keep in mind that a deck can considerably add to the curb appeal of a typical home, so it only makes sense to ensure that you choose carefully, select the finest components and craftsmanship and always sustain it, as needed.

21/365: The temperatures we see

Image by Sarah and Mike ...probably via Flickr

Most of my country in Heat Orange Alert 4 (the highest is Heat Red Alert 5) due to the high temperatures we are having.

Today we had 104 Fahrenheit and since yesterday, the news are alerting for the danger of getting outside without skin protector and at least one bottle of water. People should stay away from the beaches between the hours of higher temperatures (11am-4pm).

Insulation and dehydration is also a serious problem that can happen if we don’t drink enough water. Children and elderly are instructed to stay indoors or in a place out of the sun and fresh if possible.

My kids are in the pool with their cousins and I have been in the kitchen most of the afternoon. My refrigerator filter was changed recently so it is working properly with no noise now, so it’s rather comfortable to be in the kitchen on such a hot day.

Here, tomorrow and Wednesday the forecast is for high temperatures, probably only decreasing on Thursday.

I know some heat waves are striking in some places of the Earth. Toronto and Russia have a Heat Alert as well. So, let’s stay out of direct sun and drink a lot of water.

Exercise while Playing

We all know that exercise is an activity that brings many benefits to our health. Although I don’t go to the gym, gymnastic classes or do any kind of exercise at home, instead I prefer to join my kids on some of their favorite activities.

I sometimes I forget that I’m 41 and I feel like a young girl. My kids go to roller skating classes and I also roller skate with them. In fact, the teacher is the one that in every class encourage me to go and skate with them. I’m the only grown-up, besides the teacher, to skate with the kids and although I have joint pain and muscle pain when I leave the class, I really relieve some stress and at the same time I do some exercise.

Other days we just walk around the neighborhood, visit someone or go for a cup of coffee but always on foot or bike. I feel like I’m exercising, at least I reach the end of the day exhausted.

What about you? Do you exercise in the gym? What do you do to practice exercise?

The Weather is not Helping with my Gardening

Spring is kind of weird this year. We have been having a mix of hot, rainy, cloudy, sunny, thunder days. Yes, that’s right, sometimes we have all that on the same day.

I had started seeding some vegetables but with this weather I don’t know if I will have something growing on my garden.

I had already started treating my garden mainly removed the weeds but with so much rain and sun at the same time weeds are growing back and I think it’s best to let the weather control itself before trying to take care of the garden again.

I have an outdoor fireplace in the backyard garden that needs to be cleaned and covered for the outdoor meals, but with this weather we can’t even think in eating outside. One minute is sunny the other is cloudy and raining.

For now I am enjoying my view through my “home office” (in the dressing room) window. Pine trees shining with the rain being illuminated by sun rays.

Easter weekend means that a lot of families are going away for the weekend to have a little rest. Unfortunately not our case.

Lately some families opted to by a RV so that they can travel without paying accommodation. A RV really is a money saver however it is a big initial investment. Besides the buy of the RV, maintenance is needed as as well a insurance plan and a good sam extended service plan is advise just in case you get stuck somewhere in the middle of nowhere.

Vacations away from home are something some families do not dismiss because they are an escape from the busy daily life we have and it is a way to regain energy to face more busy days.

I don’t have vacations away for a loooong time and I really need one. While at home I’m always being interrupted by the neighbors children that want to play with mine and silence is something I barely have. The kids have a great time playing, running, shouting but we don’t have a quiet minute.

For those going on vacation here are some After Vacation Syndrome tips. Have a great time!
