Are you tired of having your computer desk full of wires? If you have the desk facing the door it looks even worse than if facing the wall. Well I got tired of the wires and decided to organize them.

I started by putting name tags in each wire so that I know which one belongs to what. This way, when I need to disconnect something I already know what I’m disconnecting.

Second thing I did was to put together the wires and with a plastic bracelet I join them altogether.

The back of the desk is now looking better and there are no loose wires hanging on there.

How did you organized your desk wires?

Refurbishing Old Sofas

Red sofa

My set of 3 sofas have 17 years old and they are…old. They are similar to leather but now they are just old and tearing apart. I don’t want to buy new sofas once these ones have perfect structure, I just need new clothing for them.

I thought about sending them to be stuffed in a professional way but that’s too much money. I’m thinking about buying fabrics and do it myself. I would like to buy some upholstery fabrics with a great pattern matching my living room. I don’t have a sewing machine but I’m able to sew it by hand.

I also thought about buying some sort of covers and make them fit the sofas. I really don’t want to spend a lot of money and I really want to keep the sofas instead of buying new ones.

Do you have any idea ro make sofas look new again?

Do you have a home office? What supplies do you buy?

I have a small office at home where I spend my day writing articles and from time to time I really need office supplies. I don’t buy office supplies online because I have a office store nearby. One thing is certain, I always look for supplies made of recycled material. Printer paper and post-it notes are always recycled. I also have a paper basket made of recycled carton as well as recycled pencil. Pens are made of recycled plastic and, well, all I can I buy recycled or made of sustainable material.

What about you? Do you use recycled office supplies?

The Perfect Home System

Tech tipsComputer Tricks

We all know that we have to become more greener. Not the color but the environmental side of us. :)

Having a sustainable house is a priority nowadays as well as a safe house. A remote system that would provide us with some commodity and sustainability at the same time would be great. We need a system that automatically turns on and off the lights when we go from one room to another. Or even a system that opens the shutters at the first sight of sunlight. Having remote security would be the ultimate feature of this system. An all-in-one system that would provide us with comfort, security and sustainability. Perfect.

My food storage

With all the items you may have stored for your kitchen needs, space may be at a premium. Even if you don’t prepare the majority of your own meals, the amount of kitchen related materials that might require storage space could be daunting and can fill up your available storage areas quickly. This can certainly be the case in a large kitchen with plenty of shelving and cabinets, let alone in a small kitchen without much-needed storage space. No matter the size of your kitchen, you may still be searching for ideas on how to maximize the kitchen space you do have, so here are a few tips that could help you make the most of your storage spots.

Inventory Rotation
One way of increasing your available storage space is through reducing the number of items taking up space. When it comes to the amount of food sopping up valuable storage room, doing an inventory of items to ensure you aren’t overloaded on certain things or buying too many bulky foods can help open up space when it’s at a premium. Ensuring that you are using items and that they aren’t being forgotten about in unseen nooks and crannies and that you are getting rid of old or expired foods can also help you make better use of your storage space.

Tupper Temptation
Plastic food storage bins can be a great way to make food last longer and make efficient use of leftovers. These same containers can take up a lot of space if not stored properly though. Ensuring that when such containers are empty that they are stacked and stored neatly can keep them from putting a drain on your available storage space.

Wall & Ceiling Space
From hooks and hangers to racks and bookshelves, maximizing wall and ceiling space can be key to effective kitchen storage. A ceiling rack can be great for decluttering pots and pans and freeing up valuable cabinet space. Making use of containers and racks can help keep smaller items organized and reduce clutter. A bookshelf or a shelf running along the wall near the top of the ceiling can allow you to place cookbooks and seldom used items up and out of the way.

Mobile Island
If your kitchen is devoid of storage or counter space, you might want to consider a mobile island. Such a device can be rolled into place where needed during times in which you are working in the kitchen, and then removed when you’re finished. It can be a great addition for chopping, measuring, laying out your cook books, and conducting other meal preparation activities. Ensuring the island comes with lockable wheels can deduce the chance of mishaps.

Conclusion
Keeping your kitchen organized can be a great way to make efficient use of your storage space, and making efficient use of your storage space can be a great way to keep your kitchen organized. With a few well-placed adjustments, you can recognize significant expansion of your kitchen’s storage capacity and increase your ability to function in, utilize, and appreciate your kitchen.
