<p>Many people when stating their new year make many resolutions. One of the many and most frequent resolutions is to lose weight. The reason being that many people are facing obesity issues, and most of them are to the extent that it is harming their health. When the body accumulates a large amount of fat content, it does become very dangerous for the health of the person.</p>
<p>Countries are losing millions and billions of dollars just because of the fact that many people of their nations are obese and cannot work just because they are facing health issues. These people miss work or do not work to their full capacity which in turn is loss for the corporation as well as the country.</p>
<p>The main reason why many people are gaining weight is that they are not maintaining a <a class="zem_slink" title="Human nutrition" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_nutrition">balanced diet</a>. The biggest culprit in improper diet routine is junk food. And this menace is so vastly advertised that there is no ignoring it or even running away from it. They promise people that their food is made in low fat oil etc. but that is just a business tactic. The truth cannot be farther than this. The main reason why fast food is so popular is because of the fact that it has so much fat content. And nobody will deny this that where ever there are fats and calories, it will obviously taste good.<br />

<p>Burgers, pizzas etc. all sound very tempting especially for food lovers but if not controlled they can become the reason for the biggest menace in your life i.e. obesity. They contain cheese, fatty oils, carbohydrates and when having fast food it is also a general trend for people to drink different colas and drinks which contain artificial sugars.</p>
<p>All these join forces and slowly become the reason for you to fall in the shackles of bad health, face cardio vascular problems and many more. It is for this reason best to avoid junk food and take up healthy foods which will help you in leading a better and happier life.<br />

<h2 style="text-align: center;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>Marinated Barbecued Chicken Recipe</strong></span></span></h2>

<li>2/3 cup sugar</li>
<li>2/3 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce</li>
<li>1/2 cup lemon-lime soda</li>
<li>1/2 cup lemon juice</li>
<li>2 tablespoons garlic powder</li>
<li>1 teaspoon pepper<img src="file:///C:/Users/Laura/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot.png" alt="" /></li>
<li>1/2 teaspoon salt</li>
<li>8 bone-in skinless chicken breast halves (7 ounces <em>each</em>)</li>
<li>2 tablespoons barbecue sauce</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Directions</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>In a small bowl, combine the first seven ingredients. Pour 1-1/2 cups marinade into a large resealable plastic bag; add the chicken. Seal bag and turn to coat; refrigerate overnight. Cover and refrigerate remaining marinade.</li>
<li>Drain and discard marinade. Add barbecue sauce to reserved marinade. Using long-handled tongs, moisten a paper towel with cooking oil and lightly coat the grill rack.</li>
<li>Prepare grill for indirect heat using a drip pan. Place chicken over drip pan and grill, covered, over indirect medium heat for 35-50 minutes or until a meat thermometer reads 170°, turning and basting occasionally with marinade. Before serving, brush with remaining marinade.<strong> </strong></li>
<li><strong>Yield: </strong>8 servings.</li>

<p>Scarlet red, delicious and grown all over the world, raspberries are popular for its vitamins and minerals content that are useful for the development of the total well-being of a person.</p>
<p>These are very low in calorie and are rich in fiber which are good for digestion and lowering the cholesterol level, controls heart rate and blood pressure of a person. Phytochemical rich, these little red berries are known to stop ageing, reduce the risk of certain cancers, inflammation and degenerative diseases.</p>
<p>Its ability to fight against diseases and free radicals can be attributed with its Vitamin C content. Raspberries have an ORAC value (<a class="zem_slink" title="Oxygen radical absorbance capacity" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxygen_radical_absorbance_capacity">oxygen radical absorbance capacity</a>) of 4900 per 100g.</p>
<p>Other vitamins and minerals found in raspberries are Vitamin E, Vitamin A, magnessium, potassium, manganese, copper, iron, magnesium, Vitamin B-complex, Vitamin K and xylitol which is a low calorie sugar substitute extractable from raspberries.</p>

<p>Lately, I have fallen in love with <a class="zem_slink" title="Induction cooker" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Induction_cooker">induction cooking</a> surfaces. After all, it is a new and exciting phenomenon. To ensure meals in under 60 minutes, <a href="http://www.clarkecorp.com/">Wolf appliances</a> have introduced the induction cooking counter top that heats up food fast so you can practically cut 1/3 of your overall cooking time. For instance, to boil a quart of water with this surface, it takes less than 60 seconds when the cooking surface is still cool!</p>
<p>As far as scrumptious 60-minutes recipes, my top five are listed below:</p>
<h2 style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #800000;"><strong>Ravioli with Pasta Sauce</strong></span></h2>
<p>Savor the taste of ravioli dressed in a chunky flavor of pasta sauce.</p>
<p><strong> </strong><strong>Ingredients:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>1 package frozen cheese ravioli</li>
<li>2 1/4 cups water</li>
<li>1/2 teaspoon salt</li>
<li>1 jar chunky pasta sauce</li>
<li>1/4      cup milk, non-dairy creamer, evaporated milk, heavy cream, or half and      half (optional)</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Directions:</strong><strong> </strong></p>
<ol>
<li>In a      12-inch non-stick skillet, bring ravioli, water and salt to a boil over      high heat. Continue boiling, stirring gently for about 5 minutes.</li>
<li>Stir      in pasta sauce and cook covered over medium heat, stirring occasionally,      10 minutes or until ravioli are tender.</li>
<li>Stir      in cream and heat through.</li>
</ol>
<h2 style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #800000;"><strong>Tossed Pasta with Basil &amp; Brie</strong></span></h2>
<p>This pungent pasta dish is covered in fresh basil and brie cheese. Served alone or paired with chicken.</p>
<p><strong>Ingredients:</strong><strong> </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>2 cups      fresh basil chopped</li>
<li>2 box      angel hair spaghetti</li>
<li>2      carton grape tomatoes, halved</li>
<li>1 large      slice brie cheese, cubed, without rines</li>
<li>Ground      black pepper</li>
<li>Salt</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Directions:</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Cook      pasta according to package <em>directions</em>. Drain.</li>
<li>Mix      basil, tomatoes and cheese together until cheese starts to melts, stirring      occasionally.</li>
<li>Service      immediate with ground paper and salt to taste.</li>
</ol>

<h2 style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #800000;"><strong>Chicken Broccoli Divan</strong></span></h2>
<p>Satisfy your taste buds mild chicken and broccoli flowerets clothed in warm cheddar cheese.</p>
<p><strong>Ingredients</strong><strong> </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>1      tablespoon butter or margarine</li>
<li>1      pound skinless, boneless chicken breast, cut up</li>
<li>3 cups      fresh or frozen broccoli flowerets</li>
<li>1 can      of condensed cream of chicken soup</li>
<li>1/2      cup milk</li>
<li>1/2      cup shredded cheddar cheese</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Directions:</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Melt      butter in skillet. Add chicken and cook until browned, stirring often.</li>
<li>Add      broccoli, soup and milk. Cover and simmer 5 minutes or until done.</li>
<li>Sprinkle with cheese.</li>
</ol>
<h2 style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #800000;"><strong><a class="zem_slink" title="Chicken marsala" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_marsala">Chicken Marsala</a></strong></span></h2>
<p>The luscious and tender chicken breasts are smothered in a rich marsala sauce.</p>
<p><strong>Ingredients:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>1/4 cup all-purpose flour</li>
<li>1/2 teaspoon salt</li>
<li>1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper</li>
<li>1/2 teaspoon dried oregano</li>
<li>4      skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, pounded 1/4 inch thick</li>
<li>4 tablespoons butter or margarine</li>
<li>4 tablespoons olive oil</li>
<li>1 cup sliced mushrooms</li>
<li>1/2 cup Marsala wine</li>
<li>1/4 cup cooking sherry</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Directions</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>In a      dish or bowl, mix together the flour, salt, pepper and oregano. Coat      chicken pieces in flour mixture.</li>
<li>In a      large skillet, melt butter in oil over medium heat. Place chicken in the      pan, and lightly brown. Turn chicken over and add mushrooms. Pour in wine      and sherry. Cover skillet and simmer for about 10 minutes, turning once,      until no longer pink.</li>
</ol>
<h2 style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #800000;"><strong>Buffalo Chicken Dip:</strong></span></h2>
<p>A saucy dip that mimics the task of <em>buffalo chicken</em> wings. It&#8217;s best served hot with chips, crackers or celery sticks.</p>
<p><strong>Ingredients:</strong><strong> </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>2 ½      lbs skinless, boneless chicken breast</li>
<li>1      blocks of cream cheese</li>
<li>1      cup hot sauce</li>
<li>1      cup chunky blue cheese</li>
<li>2      tablespoons olive oil</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Directions:</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Place chicken breasts in a large saucepan;      cover with water. Boil until cooked through. Remove from water, and cool.      Pull meat from bones and skin. Shred meat and put aside.</li>
<li>Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.</li>
<li>Heat olive oil in large skillet. Mix in the      cream cheese, and chunky blue cheese dressing. Cook and stir until smooth      and creamy. Stir in the shredded chicken and hot sauce. Spoon mixture into      an 8&#215;8 or 9&#215;13 baking dish. Sprinkle with the shredded cheese.</li>
<li>Bake      in preheated oven until golden and bubbly, for approx. 30 min.</li>
</ol>

<p>Eating healthy and balanced diet provides you and your family with all the nutrients that your body need to sustain a whole day’s activity. Having a sound and peaceful mind is a positive reaction of eating healthy.</p>
<p>Here are pointers to have a healthy eating habit.</p>
<p><strong>No skipping of meals</strong></p>
<p>When you skip a meal, the tendency is you would eat more on your next meal or worst you will pick on the unhealthy foods available in fast food chains. You can pack your own meal if you plan on travelling or ask for help on where to buy healthy food.</p>
<p><strong>Explore on the different healthy ways of cooking your food</strong></p>
<p>Do not deep fry all of your foods. You can stew, grill, stir fry, bake or boil them sometimes. You can use different kinds of methods with just a single ingredient. When cooking meat, always bear in mind to trim all the fat and skin of the meat.</p>
<p><strong>Prevent from consuming a lot of sugar</strong></p>
<p>If you can not avoid from drinking or eating foods that has sugar content, be sure to take them in moderation. Everything should be in moderation. Drinks that have plenty of sugar content do not provide you with the energy that your body needs.</p>
<p><strong>Do not think about going on a diet</strong></p>
<p>All foods taken in balance are good. Eating a balanced meal does not require you to deprive yourself of the delicious and tasty foods around you. You can have all of these kinds of foods but should be in moderation. A nibble of this and that is one way of healthy eating. Substituting your foods with diet foods like diet and sugar free drinks will not give you lesser calories and less sugar intake but substituting them with more hazardous chemicals that are used to replace them.</p>

<p>Northcote Manor in Lancashire is a vegetarian friendly restaurant and café with vegan options to satisfy any palate; the hotel also offers a gourmet vegetarian menu, in case you want to do something special. The head chef is the famous Lisa Allen, from the Great British Menu show, gives the menu the star treatment. <a href="http://www.saucecommunications.com/" target="_blank">Sauce Communications</a> is a great PR firm for restaurants and hotels, and drives a lot of business to these kinds of businesses. Here you can find foods that are good for almost any allergy, and completely vegan; all for £40.</p>
<h3>Michael House Hotel, B&amp;B, Restaurant</h3>
<p>Michael House is a vegetarian and vegan B&amp;B. Located in scenic Cornwall, here you can find a nice place for holiday. Run by a friendly couple, it’s just down the road from Tintagel, the centre of the King Arthur Legends. With its friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and tasty vegan and vegetarian cuisine, you can’t go wrong with staying at Michael House. Please remember that the inside is completely nonsmoking.</p>
<h3>Tin Tin Vegetarian (optional) Chinese Restaurant and Café</h3>
<p>This veggie friendly restaurant and café has a large array of vegan options, with mock meats and something a little extra for when your meat eating friends can’t stand another tofu burger. It’s comfy confines are great for a dinner out for two, in Hampton Hill. There is a pub nearby where you can grab a drink before dinner. The restaurant is friendly and family run, but be sure to check out Mr. Big’s mock duck; it’s sure to turn a few heads, and a few mouths towards vegetarian cuisine.</p>
