There are ways though, that that people can make some extra cash for the holiday season outside of their regular income. To help you get some money in your pocket, here are three ways to find extra cash for the holiday season.

Turn your Hobby into Cash

Most people have hobbies, and if you are like most people, then you may have a small treasure sitting around your home somewhere. If you have collected stamps or comic books over the years, then it may be time to cash them in for some needed cash. Stamps and comic books, like bonds, can increase in value over time. Depending on the year of the comic book or stamp, it is not unheard of for people to make a few hundred or a few thousand dollars for selling an old comic or a rare stamp.

You never know until you look. If you have any old comic books or stamps at home, then search online at eBay or on Craigslist to see how much they are worth. There are other types of hobbies that can make you some cash, like painting, arts and crafts or baking, you just need to be creative in finding ways to sell or market them. If you have an old Nintendo game system and games lying around, it’s surprising to find that some game titles are worth hundreds of dollars.

One of the easiest ways to raise some cash for the holiday season is by selling your scrap silver or scrap gold for cash. The price of gold and silver has never been as high as it is today because of the economic crisis, in fact gold, silver and platinum are at their record highs right now. If there were ever a time to cash in on gold and silver jewelry that you do not use anymore, that time would be now.

Take on a Part Time Job as a Pet sitter

As strange as it sounds, being a pet sitter is a great part time job. Many people own pets, and during the holiday season people often travel to see their families for the holidays. But, because of their pets, many people will postpone or cancel their out of town trips if they don’t have a pet sitter. The holiday season is the best time to pass out flyers around your neighborhood offering you pet sitting services. Pet sitters are also house sitters, when people go out of town for a few days they also need someone to watch their homes.

I found this photo on the net and I found it very interesting. Although I’ve seen two step stools with two levels for people to sit, this armchair is much more original than that.

With two extra areas, this chair makes it possible to accommodate more people than a regular chair. Excellent for the mother or father and at least three children. Perfect while reading a story or watching tv.

The growing concern over environment issues has made everyone to contribute various preventive measures in saving our environment. These include the college students who also carry many things to counter the problem of environment. There are many college students and colleges that have taken the initiative against the crusade of global warming. However, not all are seen practicing the ideology of green. A college is the right place which should be hit hard on issues like environment; since you find majority of students involved in anti environmental activities. These include certainly wasting paper in such a way that it cannot be recycled or reused. The following are the tips which can make you and your college green- a perfect place to spread the message of saving the environment.

1. Recycle everything, especially the paper: Just imagine the amount of paper you waste in just one single semester. There amount of paper you consume in the form of scrap copies, daily school newspaper, term paper, and the number of printouts you get from the internet. Rather throwing them or wasting them anywhere, it’s better if you put them in a recycle bin in the campus. Also recycle other stuffs like cans, cardboard boxes and bottles. While having the print outs, better use both the pages, and if possible use the draft mode more than any until and unless you require them the most.

2. Prefer walking rather than using your bike or car: Generally the campuses are very much pedestrian friendly, while most of them also give enough space for public transportations and bike path. Instead of using them frequently to cover short distances, better walk through, in this way you will be able to save money on fuel, maintenance and even at the inflated premium of student car insurance. If you have a car, do not often use it; rather go for car pool or program like Zipcar with your fellow students who live in your way.

3. Reduce the disposable cups and plates consumption: Using disposable cups and plates can be tempting for the convenience prospective. However, this piles up lots of money waste and improper plastic use. It’s better if you get some inexpensive plate and cup and wash them often while using in the campus. You can use them in the dorm room as well, since many of the dorm rooms have kitchen where you can easily wash these plates and cups, rather than messing up in the bathroom sink.

4. Reduce the Air conditioner use: Most of the students often switch on the AC even though they do not require them often. Better reduce the use. By using the AC often can hamper your planet plus your electricity bill piles up.

5. Turn off your computer: In campuses, students often do not turn off the computers thus to keep checking their messages every now and then. It’s better if you turn it off when you leave or roam around.

6. Opt for used books: Buying new books is like asking for more deforestation and also putting more money. The best way to get rid of these two major issues is to buy used books. Moreover, the used books have tons of notes scribbled between the lines which can be useful for you while you refer them.

7. Replace the lights with compact CFL or fluorescent light bulbs: Bulbs though may cost more, but they last long and consume very little electricity eventually saving your money. If you happen to live in dorm, better get rid of the lamp and put on these bulbs. These are pretty environment friendly and pleasant to use.

8. Buy Green: Always prefer buying recycled products, especially when you are buying papers. And buy all sorts of environmental friendly products; these though may cost you more but most of the time the difference is pretty minimal. And also carry jute bags rather than using the plastic bags.

These are simple and sweet methods to keep your campus green and keep it environment friendly. Besides practicing the above steps, make sure you form some environment friendly groups and keep organizing various programs and awareness campaigns in the campus to inculcate the environmental values among the students and staff. Keep various contests and paper presentations which can spread awareness about going green in the campus.

A glass of Orange juice.

So, you decided to start a raw juice diet. Are you aware of the precautions needed?

To start, a very important thing to be taken into consideration is to drink the juice immediately after being made. It is not advised to use frozen juices or even canned ones. A juice extractor is needed to be used to make the juice.

Organic and fresh ripe fruit and vegetables are preferred over other types.

Extract only the quantity of the juice that you are going to drink. Do not store your juice for later use. Even if you store it in the fridge it will lose the medicinal value and the raw juice diet won’t have the necessary components.

The quality of the juice varies. It depends on the quality of the fruit or vegetables and how it was extracted. If the juice is not fully extracted several nutrients like vitamins and enzymes can be lost in the process.

In case the juices are very sweet it is advisable to dilute it in water on a 50:50 basis. Another option is to mix them with not so sweet juices.

Keep your raw juice diet rich in nutrients by choosing the right fruits and vegetables and keeping the extraction method efficient.

Taste of Home

1 pork tenderloin (1 pound), cut into 1-inch slices
3/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup sliced green onions
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon butter
2 medium apples, cut into wedges
2 teaspoons cornstarch
2/3 cup reduced-sodium chicken broth
1/4 cup unsweetened apple juice

Directions

Flatten pork to 1/2-in. thickness. Combine the thyme, paprika, salt and pepper; sprinkle over both sides of pork. Place on a broiler pan. Broil 3-4 in. from the heat for 3-4 minutes on each side or until juices run clear; keep warm.

In a nonstick skillet, saute onions and garlic in butter until tender. Add apples; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until crisp-tender. Combine the cornstarch, broth and apple juice until smooth; stir into apple mixture. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 1-2 minutes or until thickened. Serve with pork.
