Childhood Obesity Epidemic

Yesterday it was my daughter’s birthday and as she was at school I brought a cake to school along with juice bottles for all the pre-school kids (65 kids). The cake was big enough for everyone and even some of the kids took a second slice. One of my daughters classmate is obese and she wanted to repeat the dose over and over again, but the teacher didn’t allow her. This made me think that it must be very frustrating for a 6 years old to control her/his appetite.

Children obesity is increasing dramatically and although the grown ups try to resolve the problem with diet pills, fat burners, quick trim fast cleanse reviews and other similar treatments the truth is: kids must have a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent obesity.

Here is a CBS YouTube video about the Childhood Obesity Epidemic that is spreading really fast.

We have to make sure our kids eat healthy meals and do exercise. Long walks or riding bicycle on the weekend is a great help. Keep your family healthy and promote a better life for them.

  1. This reminds me of an article in Nature that I read a while ago. Long story short, there’s some evidence that genes for obesity can be turned on or off depending on environmental factors, and one factor that turns on the gene in mice is Bisphenal A. From the article: “The implications of this discovery are staggering. With the rise of obesity in Americans coinciding with the widespread use of bisphenol A in everything from water bottles to dental sealants, one can’t help wondering whether there is a causal connection.” The article is still on their website: http://www.nature.com/scitable/topicpage/Obesity-Epigenetics-and-Gene-Regulation-927

I always figure in about ten years or so, after a lot more research, we’ll know whether theories like that are actually true, but it’s still interesting speculation.

Doesn’t change the fact though that what you said in the post is exactly true: kids need to eat healthy and have a healthy lifestyle and not overeat to prevent obesity, regardless of the cause.

  2. Thank you for your comment. In fact I believe obesity in children are not only caused by fast food and sweets, there must be something else. Most products nowadays have a lot of additives, some of them are not mention in the labels. Like you say, some facts will only be discovered later on.
