Setting a House Cleaning Schedule is probably the best way to keep focus on what you have to clean. Whether it the kitchen, the refrigerator or schedule the furnace filters change, if you have a cleaning schedule everything will run smoother and easier.
Of course houses are different, school schedules are different from family to family so you should make your cleaning schedule accordingly.
