Money Saving Tips

Avoid Temptations:
If you have a particular weakness, stay away from it. If you love to gamble, stay out of the casinos. If you have a weakness for shoes, drive past your favorite shoe store. While avoiding temptation is hard, it is also necessary in order to save money. When you want to give into your temptation, this is the time to use your “allowance”.

Make your Own Gifts:
If you ask people if they prefer a store bought or handmade gift, the majority would choose the latter. Handmade gifts are individualized and come from the heart. When you have a birthday, anniversary, baby shower, wedding or Christmas gift to give, make the gift. For Christmas, you could make a beautiful ornament or door wreath, for a baby shower you could purchase an inexpensive bib pattern and make special bibs, or for a wedding, you could create a wonderful album of photos showing the couples dating life. Other great options include making homemade hot chocolate, soaps, candles, or lotions and placing them in inexpensive glass containers or baskets purchased at a thrift shop. If you use a mason jar, add foam and fabric under the lid for added color, use a label to write the contents and a message of endearment, and wrap a nice piece of ribbon around the ridge. The options are endless, so get creative.

For some people Having a Better Life means losing a few pounds. The best advice I can give is schedule an appointment with your doctor to see what options there are. Not always diet pills are prescribed because a good diet and exercise are better options.

However, I know many people don’t go to the doctor and look online for the best diet pills and fat burners so looking in the right place is a very important step. SyberVision site is a great source of information when searching for diet pills, acne treatments, sleeping pills, etc.. Go through all the reviews before buying the products. Knowing other people’s opinion and experience with some products can be very useful when wanting to buy a good product.

Headaches

Due to my son’s headaches I have been searching online for causes of headaches and migraines. Although most people think that headaches are an adult problem, I was informed by doctors that a lot of children suffer from them.

Headaches in children can have several origins:

  • Stress due to exams or other situation
  • Too much television and computer
  • Infection
  • Too much video games
  • Little rest
  • Etc.

There are also less common reasons like:

  • Brain Infection
  • Tumors
  • Meningitis
  • etc.

I also have headaches and migraines and spending all day (and night) looking at a computer screen doesn’t help at all. I really don’t know how people with programmer jobs can look at the screen hour after hour. At least I know where my headaches are coming from: exposure to the screen, stress and anxiety.

Well, my son has a follow up hospital appointment next week and I am really afraid of the diagnosis. Although there are no other neurological symptoms like nausea or vomiting, the almost constant light headaches are not normal. His eyes were checked and new lenses made. I admit that he watches a little too much television but his headaches pop up when he has to concentrate on something like looking at the blackboard at school or at a exam paper. When he is watching TV that doesn’t happen. Weird…I know.

Water: a precious gift from nature

Water is one of nature’s most precious gifts and a resource we depend on for our life. Water is essential for everyone, it is fundamental to all life forms, affecting all ecosystems and the various uses to which it is put. Demand continues to rise rapidly as the worlds population grows – water use per capita also increases. This is fast becoming a serious problem because the supply of water is finite. Only 3% of the worlds water is fresh.

According to the World Health Organization,

“safe drinking water is fast becoming the world’s most critical resource and a global concern as more than a billion people worldwide lack access to it”.

Here are a couple of good reasons for their concern:

  • Unclean water is the second biggest killer of children, claiming more than two million lives annually.
  • drinking water is listed as the Number 4 health hazard in the US. Safe Drinking Water is constantly in the News – politicians would like it to appear safer than it is.

Water is indispensable for human health and well-being. A regular and adequate supply of clean drinking water is one of our essential basic human needs and often a factor in survival. Not only is clean water essential for everyday life, it is essential to economic growth and poverty reduction.

Unfortunately, Water is something we all take for granted. Clean drinking water is one of the world’s most precious resources. Under US Federal law, bottled water is classified as a food product. As is the case in most western countries.

As a result of the way water has been marketed over the years, many consumers believe that, bottled water is safer and healthier than tap water. Why wouldn’t they think that when they have been shown graphic images of how the condition of the once-clean pure water is transformed by the time it travels through the delapitated pipes to our homes. It is no wonder that in this day and age bottled water is becoming more and more popular. Sure bottled water is convenient, but it is only as safe as its source. That same marketing has pushed the price of water – “sometimes dramatically” throughout the world to the point where it is more expensive per litre than petrol.

How much water is enough?
The “recommended” daily consumption of water is somewhere around 60-80 ounces, however alternative health care professionals will tell you should be consuming 50% of your total body weight in pounds in ounces. Regardless of the virtual water that you get from your diet. Virtual water is the amount of water that is embedded in food or other products needed for its production.

Water is the safest thing for you to drink. In many ways, water is a miracle liquid. Water is essential to good health, yet needs vary by individual. Although it contains no nutrients, water is a vital component of our diets.

Budget:
Everyone should create a budget. If you are not sure how or just not good with money, many businesses such as H&R Block, offer free financial consulting to help you put a budget together. Knowing where you are spending your money is by far the best way to save. In most cases, people have no idea where their money is really going and once they see it on paper, not only are they surprised but eager to change their spending habits. If you would like a DIY guide to creating a budget, check out How to Set up a Family Budget.

Reuse:
When you shop, look for items that can be reused. Rechargeable batteries are a perfect example. Even though the initial purchase may be more than non-rechargeable batteries, there is a definite savings over a long period. Another option would be to purchase a nice artificial Christmas tree. Many of the current artificial trees look amazingly real and with the right lights and ornaments, you can change the look from year to year.
