I think that washing our hands is an habit that must be taught since very early age. A small big hygienic gesture that can do a lot for health – our health and others. There are times when washing our hands is essential:

  • before touching food
  • before a meal
  • after using the bathroom
  • after cleaning the house
  • after touching in animals, even our own pets
  • after sneezing, coughing or blowing our nose
  • after an outdoor activity like gardening, playing in the park or walking the dog
  • after visiting someone sick

To make washing our hands more effective there are a few rules that should be followed:

    • Use tepid and running water
    • Use a soap all over our hands, rubbing for 10 to 15 seconds not forgetting between the fingers and wrists
    • wash in abundant water to remove all the soap
    • Dry very well with a clean towel (in public spaces use only disposable towels)

Teach this habit to your kids since they are very young, this will prevent them from getting some avoidable diseases.

Here I am again for another Light Recipe. I found this low-sugar recipe through MyRecipes.com site. As you probably have noticed from past recipes I love dessert recipes and I like to post them here once they are light or low sugar, but today I decided to bring here a low sugar snack.

    Ricotta Raspberry Canapés

    Ingredients

    • 12 (1/2-ounce) slices whole wheat peasant bread
    • 1 cup fresh ricotta cheese
    • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
    • 2 cups fresh raspberries
    • 2 tablespoons honey
    • Mint sprigs (optional)

    Preparation

    Preheat oven to 300°.

Cut each bread slice in half; place on a baking sheet. Bake at 300° for 7 minutes or until lightly toasted. Remove from oven; cool completely.

Combine ricotta and pepper in a small bowl. Spread about 2 teaspoons cheese mixture on each toast. Top each toast with 2 to 3 raspberries; drizzle evenly with honey. Garnish with mint sprigs, if desired. Serve immediately.

    Enjoy it!
