electricity.jpgIf electricity harms or not people’s health is still a very controversy subject. Some studies made in Sweden, Canada or United States of America tend to prove that yes.

All electric apparel produce electromagnetic radiation, no matter if it is a houseware apparel, cell phone or high tension cables.

Exposure to that type of radiation has been blamed for instance, for the increasing number of cerebral tumors due to the frequent use of cell phones. The distance between a person and a working microwave shouldn’t be less than 1 meter.

The intensive use of computers or continuous functioning, for instance, all night in a room, can cause headaches, depression, insomnias or concentration problems.

Leaving near high tension cables can increase the number of leukemia cases.

There is no consensus with this question, but can we let this precious gift called electricity rule our lives? Can we avoid electricity? No, it is everywhere, it is needed for almost everything and it is everywhere. What can be done is the research for safer electricity apparels and maybe other type of electricity cables.

Pickles are a very popular way of conserve food, especially vegetables. Its own flavor comes from a process of addiction of vinegar, salt and sugar.

From the nutritional point of view, pickles have a profile similar to fresh vegetables, with the exception of the high amount of sodium (a salt component) and sugar.

Eating salty food is frequently attached to the increase of blood pressure and to a high risk of gastric cancer.

The presence of sugar also gives a higher caloric effect to pickles than fresh vegetables, therefore these type of food must be eaten sporadically.

Depression – sometimes it is a silent disease

It’s not always easy to diagnostic a depression. Sometimes, the first to detect some worrying signals, are the relatives or friends. A person that…

  • feels sad most of the day or every day
  • feels empty, useless and guilty
  • cries for everything and for nothing
  • loses interest for activities that before gave pleasure to do
  • feels anxious
  • have difficulty in concentrate and make decisions
  • have difficulty in sleeping or feels like sleeping the all day
  • feels tired most of the time
  • loses or gains weight without explanation
  • can have thoughts about death and suicide

…can be developing a depression, therefore it’s important not to ignore these symptoms and see a doctor. With professional help it’s possible to regain the emotions control.

Medication and therapies are the two medical instruments for the treatment of a depression. However, it is also in the patient hands to recover by…

  • respecting medical instruction regarding the treatment, never changing it or stop it by self initiative.
  • sharing the feeling with others
  • getting involved in activities that gives pleasure avoiding isolation
  • eating healthy food
  • avoiding stimulating drinks and food
  • practicing exercise
  • keeping sleeping schedules
  • avoiding negative thoughts, be tolerant with yourself and believe that you are going to “win” the depression.

I’ve been there…medication helps a lot and we should take advantage of being medicated to find ways out to resolve our problems. Of course we must have a motive, a reason to keep fighting. I had my husband and my son at the time, they were my reason to fight and recover.

Safety while exercising

Even with a regular medical check-up (blood tests and ECG) all people practicing any kind of sport should be careful with excessive sweating and tiredness.

Drink a lot of ionized water and natural fruit juice in a regular way along the day, allow to manage the lose through sweating, breathing and urine, as well as the loss from the muscle “work”. Avoid sodas, drink with caffeine or other energetic drinks.

Some sports (biking, skate, roller skates, etc) continue to be the cause of several accidents that should be prevented. Protective accessories for the head, elbows, knee, resistant clothes and shoes should be used.

For outdoor sports the sun protector shouldn’t be forgotten in sunny days as well as sunglasses. During the hotter months sports should be practice at the begin or at the end of the day.
