Some comfort for an Alzheimer’s patient

By Laura | Aug 29, 2007
Due to my father’s Alzheimer disease, my single room at my parents house was changed to receive my father’s new bed. Once my mother is going to take care of him at home, we had to ask for a hospital bed to give my father some comfort and give my mother some more mobility to feed him, wash him and change diapers.
In a normal bed it was very difficult to sit him once he has no control of his body. With the hospital bed and through a mechanic device it’s possible to lift the bed and put him in a sitting position without much effort. We are just waiting for some side bars that come separated to prevent him from falling off the bed. A television was installed on this room so that he can watch TV and keep in touch with the world.

My old single bed was dismounted and it’s now on the attic. My mother kept a wardrobe, a drawer dresser by Powell furniture and a mirror. The television is on top of a second dresser she has and that she uses for storage of books and other small items.

This disease is very stressful for everybody but everything is being done to give him comfort so that he can have better life conditions.
