Stress in the right dose it’s not harmful, once it keeps us in an alert status necessary to face life. But if it is too “sharp” or persistent, it has a prejudicial effect in our health, with an important loss of physiologic capacity.
Try this to easy away your stress:

Find the origin and consider if it’s worth to keep the attitude that it’s causing you the stress. Not always is it possible for you to get away from a troubled situation, but the way you deal with it, is exclusively your responsibility.

Exercise. Improves your general well-being and helps preventing stress.

Share your worries with someone you trust. The social support is an important shield against stress.

Be optimist and keep a positive attitude towards life.

Learn to say no every time that someone asks you something you are not in conditions to reply, and don’t feel guilty for that.

Learn to relax. The progressive relaxation of the muscles can diminish the pulse frequency and the blood pressure, as well as the level of transpiration and respiratory frequency.

Learning to relax is crucial to good health and success. I find that the practice of focused breathing is the quickest route to a calm state. Dr. Andrew Weil has a great audio program that takes you through guided breathing exercises and I’d recommend it to anybody. Great article!

Thanks for the tips! I’ve been really stressed lately, sometimes to the point of being really cranky. It’s not a good phase to be in, especially since others are getting affected by my mood swings.
